Unemployment--The Fix
People today are almost totally dependent on others for their livelihood. Gone are the days of hunting, foraging, and even fishing for daily subsistence. Gone are the days of camping out in the forest. Because these options are no longer available to the ordinary man, others must come to their rescue. The problem is that our society has relied on market forces to correct the economy, and stimulus programs have been hit or miss and have taken too long to have an effect.
If there is any doubt about the immorality of the U.S. corporation, you need only consider that our economy is in trouble and companies are holding back from investing their cash reserves because they don't wish to jeopardize their bottom line.
Let us say that it is a simple business decision and that CEO's are not expected to be moral people because business must be objective to remain competitive. In that case, the solution is to make all businesses hire the unemployed regardless of whether or not they are needed. This they can do because they have expertise to start up any number of companies that will at the very least stay in the black. If they should go in the red, the U.S. can then make up the difference with unemployment funds. The number actually hired would be proportional to the company's profits.
The corporations doing business in the U.S. have profited handsomely by our sweat and our consumerism. It is time they came to the plate. Our government should legislate this immediately.
