What I know about the N95 Mask & How to Sterilize It

I don't know why anyone would ask an MD a hypothetical question requiring a yes or no answer. The answer would always be 'NO;' why? Well because it's not in any protocol that they've learned at their beloved medical school and they do not step outside their damn guidelines. A case in point, Dr. Gupta was asked by a CNN viewer if it was alright to use Lysol to disinfect her mask when returning home. The good doctor said 'no' and mumbled something about the mask being a 'doctor's' mask and the implication was that you shouldn't tamper with a sanctified object. Now, this woman was left to try and obtain more masks because--if Dr. Gupta is to be believed--you just can't disinfect it. Bull crap! Dr. Gupta readily said no to the woman with regard to the use of Lysol but you'd think that with the money he brings in, he'd offer the poor woman a means of disinfecting her mask. Lacking a ready supply of masks, we the public, need to reu...

Quick Sanitizer (Handrub) Recommended by W.H.O.

https://www.who.int/gpsc/5may/Guide_to_Local_Production.pdf These instructions are difficult to follow unless you have access to 100% isopropyl alcohol or ethyl alcohol. What you usually get at the pharmacy is 70% but not to worry, the recipe actually lowers the alcohol content to 75% and the CDC says that anything over 60% is adequate.* So, if we start with 100 ml of 70% isopropyl alcohol, you can add 1.5 ml glycerin and 0.2 ml of hydrogen peroxide and still be within guidelines for effective sanitizer (about 69%). I added the fluid to a small spray bottle and I mist my hands with it when needed. If you went with something like Everclear (100% ethyl alcohol) you'd have to add distilled water to lower the concentration down to 75% (75 ml Everclear plus 25 ml distilled water). Then you would add the glycerin and hydrogen peroxide as above. *[note: my store bought, FDA-approved Purel knockoff from China is 62% ethyl alcohol]
