Our Governor Murphy's attempt at maximizing tax revenue from marijuana sales is tantamount to King George--also a Briton--trying to force a tea monopoly on the colonists. What this graduate of Goldman-Sachs fails to realize is that holding hostage the NJ resident by forcing him to buy "Murphy Weed" under threat of draconian incarceration for "home grown weed" only shows how greed reigns supreme in the Goldman-Sachs world.  As citizens, we need to wise up and understand that the businessman should have no role to play in politics for, although sociopaths make good surgeons and successful businessmen, humanity, as a whole, needs empathic leaders and not just those who offer lip service to our grievances. The best way to get people to buy "Murphy Weed" is to increase their standard of living (i.e., employment with good wages). The people mentioned in the title have seen fit to deprive the New Jersey Resident from growing pot for personal use--Senator Cardinale, through unknown motivation, has done an about face and has introduced a bill to allow for home grow--much to his credit although I've yet to read the bill. This should never have been an issue. Consider this, you can brew alcoholic beverages till the cows come home. None are asking for your wine/beer/whiskey tax dollars. None are selling it to neighbors and friends. The reason it is not more widespread is that the wine industry makes product for every taste and budget AND the taxes are not excessive. Pot, on the other hand, is soon slated to hit our budgets hard. Many in New Jersey, like that rich bugger, Governor Murphy, can afford any product that will be sold. Mrs. Brennan asked an epidemiologist if there was any evidence that masks worked in stopping the coronavirus spread. What an absurd question to ask in a pandemic considering all we know. For instance, we know that social distancing works and we all try to obey the 6 foot rule. Now, if a barrier consisting of nothing but air is effective, how can anyone in their right mind question the effectiveness of a more physical barrier like a mask? Especially since no one is saying that masks protect the public from getting the virus; instead, the claim is made that wearing a mask stops you from spreading the virus, and isn't that what we all want? It's an especially troubling issue because we are seeing in the news that certain people are ignoring the guideline to use masks in public. It is my misfortune that I live in a state (NJ, Gov. In the same breath, the Governor talked about high "density" and meat packers. Sorry, Governor, in a meat packing plant you could have two workers at opposite ends of the building and one of them will catch coronavirus from the other just by virtue of the fact that the entire workplace is a refrigerator and coronaviruses love a dry martini--they don't care so much about the temperature but humidity must be kept to a minimum if the virus is to spread well. Governor Murphy, Governor Cuomo's people are coming over to Jersey, I suspect because there are shorter lines here. But they are not wearing masks; otherwise, I wouldn't give a hoot and, in fact, would welcome them. This  NY Times Article  tells us that the damage caused by Covid-19 is more than likely dose dependent. In other words, you will probably survive a few viruses but succumb to a massive intake. This is important vis-a-vis the latest controversy over wearing masks in public. Luckily for us all, many are buying into the idea. The exception being those who are terrified of healthcare workers not having PPE's. Now that the FDA has approved KN95 as comparable to N95, that shouldn't be too much of a problem. MASKS of any kind  should protect against a high dose of virus particles even if they don't protect you 100%. Being infected with a few viruses will not bring on full-blown disease because the immune system has time to mount a defense against future infections even those infections caused by the first virus to make it inside one of your cells. It's a no-brainer but it is not being done. If we can order people to wear clothes in public, we can ask them to wear a mask. I wish Governors Cuomo or Murphy would pick a city or borough or county and order everyone there to wear a mask--any mask until we have the resources to provide the currently scarce N95's, and yes, bandanas or any cloth that covers the nose and mouth are acceptable. Additionally, they would hire sanitation workers to sanitize all surfaces touched by people. The U.S. bureaucracy may be taking too long to respond with the right mask policy. The media, stupidly, continues to make the assinine assumption that we'd all be taking away masks from healthcare workers. They should start reading my posts with a more critical eye rather than jump to specious conclusions that do nothing to get the public into the right frame of mind.
