Can Citizens be Asked to Wear a Mask in Public?

It's a no-brainer but it is not being done. If we can order people to wear clothes in public, we can ask them to wear a mask.

I wish Governors Cuomo or Murphy would pick a city or borough or county and order everyone there to wear a mask--any mask until we have the resources to provide the currently scarce N95's, and yes, bandanas or any cloth that covers the nose and mouth are acceptable.

Additionally, they would hire sanitation workers to sanitize all surfaces touched by people.

The U.S. bureaucracy may be taking too long to respond with the right mask policy. The media, stupidly, continues to make the assinine assumption that we'd all be taking away masks from healthcare workers. They should start reading my posts with a more critical eye rather than jump to specious conclusions that do nothing to get the public into the right frame of mind.

It is said that BILLIONS of masks are required for healthcare workers. However, only 330 million masks are required for the public. But, again, we're not asking the public to take away N95's from hospitals. We can start with bandanas, kerchiefs, handkerchiefs, construction masks, etc.

Cheap masks still protect you because they are preventing others from spreading the virus to you. You, healthy, must still wear one because that encourages everyone to keep wearing theirs.

ABC, good coverage on masks! Much better than CNN. Kudos to NYC MTA official who's distributing masks to all employees ignoring current WHO guidelines.
