Why Murphy's an Ass along with Legislators other than Mr. Cardinale.

The people mentioned in the title have seen fit to deprive the New Jersey Resident from growing pot for personal use--Senator Cardinale, through unknown motivation, has done an about face and has introduced a bill to allow for home grow--much to his credit although I've yet to read the bill.

This should never have been an issue. Consider this, you can brew alcoholic beverages till the cows come home. None are asking for your wine/beer/whiskey tax dollars. None are selling it to neighbors and friends. The reason it is not more widespread is that the wine industry makes product for every taste and budget AND the taxes are not excessive.

Pot, on the other hand, is soon slated to hit our budgets hard. Many in New Jersey, like that rich bugger, Governor Murphy, can afford any product that will be sold. Those of us who can't afford to pay $500 plus for an ounce or who would just like to start a hobby were looking forward to home grow.

I've come down hard on Mr. Murphy because he hasn't had the decency to remove the draconian NJ laws still on the books concerning the growing of pot. Today, if caught growing as many as 10 plants, you can get TWENTY YEARS in prison--a few plants might get you 5 years.

Now, I don't want to compete with NJ's pot market. Just to be allowed to grow ONE plant at a time is sufficient.

The bullshit coming out of Trenton boggles the mind. Consider this, you can have 6 ounces of pot in your possession and not even be fined; but if those 6 ounces are on a living plant, you're fucked.

It's easy to surmise that these representatives of the people want to maximize revenues. But hey, just like NJ trusts the citizen to pay taxes on goods purchased out of state, trust me to grow and take the harvest to a legal pot store that will certify that I have paid the various taxes on it to the store. The taxes should be based on a flat rate for an amount tbd. I must sign saying that it is only for my personal use and cannot be sold.

What would be so hard? Alternatively, just let me grow one damn plant and fine me or jail me when an inspector finds more than one plant. If growing my own, I would need to register as a home grower and inspections are random. He brings a dog who sniffs out the pot excess I may be hiding.

Surely, there's a way for the resident to save money on his pot needs; if only those in power weren't so greedy or thought outside the box.
