Today's White House: Red and Blue Combine into Purple and It's Got Nothing to do with Easter!
Any fanaticism drives me bonkers. So, in reaction to an article published in the Daily Kos entitled, "
Dear Obama Hater - You Just Wasted A Decade Of Your Life," I would like to express my ire. The tile itself reveals the craziness of political affiliations: a "decade?" when it's been only 6 years that Obama has been in office speaks volumes.
It'd like to remind everyone what it means to vote for someone--regardless of how their nostrils flare or their ears flap or their daughters behave in public or how their bank accounts bulge--and have that person throw your vote into the sludge of the Potomac River once he's sitting pretty.
I voted in '08 for an end to war. I voted for justice for the minority (here, I thought, community activist persona would continue). I voted for single payer. I voted for transparency. I'd like the Daily Kos to tell me how their man changed anything. Oh, he's not devoid of accolades--I, a Cuban-American, loves his belated diplomacy with Cuba and Obamacare is not without merit but here's what I got:
The continuation of the two parties' combined grip on the hearts and minds of Americans is outrageous and will be our downfall if we don't correct course. Fanaticism begets despotism; yet, because the Dems and the GOP have NO essential differences, the sheeple are stuck in a concentration camp that differs from the other only in the color of the prison uniform. [I've proposed alternative voting schemes but my naivete did not allow me to see that only a revolution could implement such change.]
The takeaway is this: at the very least, if you vote for your party's candidate, don't be like those in the police unions who defend their members regardless of guilt. Call them to task. Don't take any excuses. If you voted blue or red, don't accept purple. Purple may a noble color in the form of the color of the passion of Christ but it should play no role in politics. As Senators or Governors, privy to almost everything that affects our nation, elected officials should be in a position to know what is doable and what isn't and the reason why. Ergo, whatever they promise should be attempted from day one and when they fail to get on the starting line, folks like those at the Daily Kos, shouldn't carry them to the finish line without them ever having run the race--even if it is for the sake of Hillary Artillery. [BTW, what a shrew'd woman she is to have anticipated the likes of Edward Snowden and Chelsea Manning--to bypass government email servers]
One final word: while being a staunch Obama-hater is not for me, Obama-lovers, IMHO, are equally odious in light of his record in keeping promises; most politicians fall short--to be fair--but Mr. Obama was suave with great credentials; we saw no guile; we fell headfirst into the bullshit of "change" never expecting that the purple-clad messiah was not the one we expected.

- A continuation of the Iraqi war according to Bush's timeline.
- A continuation of Bush's Guantanamo practices.
- A continuation of Bush's pro-ripoff business policies. Here I refer to bailouts.
- A continuation of GOP pro-insurance ripoffs. Here I refer to Obamacare.
- A continuation of GOP skewed justice. Here I refer to non-violent offenders. A day-one easily implemented agenda if ever I saw one; but it's been 6 years.
- A continuation of GOP anti-transparency practices. No one at Daily Kos will ever see a 5X10 cell for whistle-blowing, that's for sure!
- A continuation of the GOP erosion of constitutionality.
