A Solution for Facebook's Fake News Dilemma
First, "Press" badges are issued to all Facebook users who are validated similar to the way Twitter validates users with a checkmark next to their name.
Secondly, all who want to use and keep the "Press" badge must follow scholarly convention by providing references for every post. Actual style can be standardized [e.g., APA] if the algorithms have trouble parsing diverse formats.
Thirdly, the references are retrieved and their content compared to the user's post. If there is zero similarity, the badge is removed or subdued for that post.
Facebook users are asked to trust only those posts with a "Press" badge.
