Zuckerberg Proves It, Most of the "Berg" Remains Below Water.

Police Brutality
I don't know how long lynching held sway in our Nation and It's too depressing to google but I know the answer, we all know the answer--it hasn't stopped. Oh, the methods are different but the end result is that those in power get to take lives willy-nilly.

Other than having the majority of U.S. residents become True Christians or the equivalent in other religions, it is incumbent on those of us who care about these things to look for solutions. The police body cam was proposed and is seeing some use, if only to also see some sabotage in it's use; i.e., "mute it." What I now propose is not a perfect fix; some may even have valid objections. I would predict that these objections would come from those with a higher liberal standard.

I propose that policemen be supplied with clips containing ammunition that consists of different grades of lethality. Let' say a clip can contain 10 rounds or bullets, load that clip with rubber bullets that will fire during the first couple of shots; then, bullets that are plastic but with poor penetrating power; finally, the last bullets in the clip will cause serious injury including death. If the policeman fires fast and continuously, the alleged perpetrator must have been carrying a gun--not a phone or a wallet. By the way, why aren't police guns supplied with high power l.e.d.'s to clearly see the phone or wallet or toy gun.

This proposal is made with the aim of appeasing the police unions who seem to have absolute power over our mayors and legislators. If I were to have union representation and was out for myself in everything I did, I'd like a police union but that sure as hell doesn't make it right.

Animal Assad

He says that in killing ISIS, there is the inevitable collateral damage. With so many Syrian refugees, the task must be a much more easier one. (11 million refugees or displaced people reports the NYT via Mr. Kristoff on MSNBC.) The question I have is, after Mr. Assad is declared the winner, how long will he wait before welcoming back his people. Is he doing what Fidel Castro did with the unhappy citizens--he let them emigrate so that the world could take care of them.

But there was something not right about the gas attacks. I looked at videos and I saw children that looked more like they were questioning why they were being hosed. There were no signs of severe distress. A caller into WNYC FM who said he was an expert on chemical warfare said that anti-Assad forces were equally if not more likely to have used chemical weapons in Syria. Furthermore, the man said that the video photographer was not exactly squeaky clean. Apparently, he had been accused of terrorist acts himself. Since then, I came across this article which everyone should read before condemning the Syrian government with absolute MSM certainty.

Zuckerberg
Wall Street corrupts absolutely, and he's contrite because he got caught red-handed. Let me here address the Facebook stockholder at MSNBC, Mr. Velshi, who went on at length to defend the utility of FB and the coaching of Zuckerberg. No big deal on the coaching except as noted below. After the initial product which Mr. Zuckerberg blatantly stole from others, he proably can't take a dump without counsel. Mr. Zuckerberg didn't even code his own database backend. He used a public domain database known as MySql since then probably improved so that they could make it proprietary.

However, FB is primarily hailed by those unfamiliar with software. Anyone could have produced FB 1.0. The additional "advances" were the result of megabucks from Wall St. that allowed for a massive team of programmers to be hired. But what does FB even offer it's users? Other than the facilitation of gossip, I see no other use for FB and I predict it's demise in very short order. I, myself, dropped out of FB two years ago and havn't missed it one bit. Now, I'm less of a social butterfly than many but even these extroverts will eventually come to their senses and realize that most of us only have a small clique that we truly care about to the extent that we want to hear from them on a daily basis.

The diehard afficionados are the ones who post and garner more and more "friends;" but what friends are these who should be on the phone with you discussing things privately in a manner that will never see the light of day or the viewing by Zuckerberg's corporate clients. There is more to FB but the rest is, sadly, dross and chaffe and "friends" pushing a political agenda. Twitter will eventually catch up to everything that FB has to offer. Instagram had the potential to overtake FB; that is, until it was purchased by FB--sure way to stiffle competition, don't you think?

In the not too distant future, I predict that a program will come along that will allow anyone to design their own social media with members that they themselves select or invite. You could call it a more sophisticated version of a forum.

No, FB usage today is just herd mentality--when the boredom finally sets in, FB will go the way of Betamax or Sony Walkman's or dedicated MP3 players.

Zuckerberg goes to Washington and says:
  • "Ours [FB's] is a social mission and advertising is never to be a priority." But as one Senator pointed out, as a CEO, Mr. Z must make money for his stockholders--conflict of interest?
  • "We don't sell data." This is disingenuous because while FB itself doesn't sell information, it relies 100% on that data to enable its targeted advertising. It is, in fact, the middleman who says, "you can't have the data;" but we will use the data as if we were you.
  • "I want to connect the world." Nice but let's consider this: Most countries cannot afford to pay what we pay here in the U.S for ads. Therefore, we are, ipso facto, supporting, unwittingly and perhaps also unwillingly, the social media charities of FB. Is this right?
  • "FB has 8 competitors." This led Senator Graham to say that, therefore, FB was not a monopoly. Not so, sir! If FB had had all these competitors, they would not have 1+billion users. Except for the high friend count users who feel privileged, many would have switched.
  • "We will have AI and thousands looking for objectionables." One thing Congress did not inquire about and that Mr. Z did not volunteer to elaborate on, is the difference between ads and postings. While he can control the former, policing the latter is a bit thornier. Just consider that if I post an image containing information, no amount of AI will be able to ascertain whether that image is itself objectionable or has unwanted graphical text. FB has to rely on its users to tag images. During the election, I saw an image of HRC entering a plane. On her white skirt at about the level of the anus, we saw a "spot." How would FB algorithms fare in "spotting" this?
  • "We are going to reveal all ads by a particular client." This is good. If we see a political ad, we'd like to know if fellow citizens in another state are being shown a different ad with a conflicting message.
  • Mr. Z may have been coached but we easily saw through the guile. At no point did Mr. Z provide yes or no answers even though none would have accused him of major deceptions for many of those answers. No, Mr. Z was coached into saying BS "college essay" answers so that he would be subjected to less questioning.
  • "In the future, we will audit apps to ensure that user data is protected." Really? Does Mr. Z intend to pull an FBI--what do they call it--a no-knock inspection? Even that may not be adequate because electronic data is very easy to hide.
  • Finally, was the app that sold data to Cambridge Analytical made to sign some sort of agreement? My guess is no because Mr. Z couldn't be more motivated to make money and that motivation inevitably causes people to engage in corruption; but what does Congress know about stopping corruption--witness, if you will, the data that shows that most members of Congress retire as millionaires--WTF!
Palestinians and the murdered photojournalist
The IDF (Israeli Defense Forces) reminds me of the U.S. cop who doesn't see the wallet or the phone but shoots indiscriminately. It was being reported in MSM that the journalist may have been killed because he was flying a "threatening" drone. Why didn't they shoot the drone instead? That drone would have flown back home automatically after exceeding a certain range--only to be used again to give the Palestinians a leg up. Instead the Israelis targeted the photojournalist who, unfortunately for him, wore a jacket with "PRESS" clearly shown.

Media

I want the next President of the U.S. to also use Twitter. Although the Media tends to make mountains of mole hills, I think tweets show me at least how the President is leaning and what's on his mind--damn refreshing!

Mr. Panetta [on morningJoe], where have "strategies" gotten us in the past? Are you for real or do you just have the usual hammer to wield? We are not the world's policemen. If we go into Syria, any player can draw us into another war by releasing chemical weapons. The Syrian people need to revolt on their own. ALL people need to fix their own society or be damned by their cowardice and stupidity!

Admiral Stavridis, the UN will always be impotent with the veto powers that the big boys have. Do we and Russia have the balls to join the international community or will we only answer to the Military Industrial Complex?

Mr Paul Ryan, whatever corporate board you end up in is a board to be feared and a company t be boycotted. As a Christian in the public eye who shoots animals with arrows, I hold you in utter contempt--you are a deficit to humanity in many ways. You sold out to to the almighty buckaroo and now that you snagged it, what will you do with it--make for yourself a game "preserve?"

Willie Geist, you struck the nail a glancing blow when you said that Pruitt should be busier than to busy himself with memorabilia. When your mandate is to reverse BO EPA policies, it's really only ONE order. It's done, BTW, and POTUS should save us some money by firing the megalomaniac Pruitt.

Hey morming J, your people in Alabama gave a Black man--guilty only by the slimmest of associations--65 years prison on a felony murder conviction? WTF? The man had no gun and the only killing was done by a cop.who fired back at an armed accomplice. Were you born with the same genes? If you weren't, then speakup man!
