When and If They Deny Me a Ventilator

[caveat, this needs FDA approval and, I am not a doctor]

Using typical aquarium air hoses, I'd use some to connect a mask to an aquarium air pump**. I'd attach some sort of manually-adjusted valve to it to adjust the pressure to my comfort level, and...let'r rip. Most CPAPs need to allow for exhalation and without some sort of pressure release, it won't work and may even kill you. The safety measure taken by home CPAP machines is to have an unobstructed orifice somewhere on the mask to release excess pressure. With this safety feature set to the right size opening, you can use any air compressor but smaller would be better as these are less noisy and easier to keep within manageable pressures.

Before attaching the air line to the face mask, I'd run the air through a HEPA filter and clean water--to filter and humidify.

This setup is very close to what a CPAP machine is. Later, I'd try to find out how the BIPAP* works and try to "maker" my cheap-o ventilator into one (an Arduino-controlled electric air valve would do it).

mmm, I think I'll start building one now. Governor Cuomo has started to scare me.

I haven't checked out the CDC website because I don't think I'd find any scientific information there on Covid-a9 other than that that can be used by the lay public. RELEASE the information to ALL--dammit--let the people experiment--you are far from gods--make all information available and readily accessible to the public. Tell ALL that you know about Covid-19.

**The smaller aquarium pumps may not be sufficient. Alternatives are the small compressors; the Volcano vape machine; inline fans can probably be made to work.

*BIPAP is basically a CPAP that produces an air flow at two different pressures. This biphasic action mimics the natural movement of the alveoli during each breathe.

I Doubt My Mother-in-Law will ever get Covid Even at 90+

You see, she has never been a germaphobe and that means her immune system is tip top. When you're not a germaphobe, you subject yourself to all manner of germs that immunize you against similar organisms. My German mother-in-law cleans her home meticulously but she has no compunction with sticking her hands into the sewer and unclogging it by hand. "But Midge, I have a snake for that. Ah, what's the big deal, she says to me." Never argue with your mother-in-law. When your mother tells you to wash your hands before supper, is she doing you a disfavor? I think so.
