My Wife Read a Quote Today from Pope Francis that applies to Covid-19
It's important to note, it wasn't said in response to Covid-19: "Your spouse can forgive, your children can forgive, your friends can forgive but Nature will never forgive.
What do we need forgiveness for from Nature? I don't have to tell you but in the event you're from another planet: we've polluted her, we've stricken her with fever, we've decimated populations not of our species, we've raped and pillaged to our heart's content--and, Genghis Khan can get away with it but we are billions and there is no forgiveness. All this, of course, is to be considered when Nature lets up with her present wrath.
If you buy into this premise, and I hope you do, we must ask ourselves if Mr. Gates and Dr. Fauci's attempts at eradication are not misguided. Yes, by all means, let's immunize against Covid-19 but then we should ask Mr. Gates if his money cannot be better spent getting us free energy in exchange for population control.
I was surprised to hear Dr. Fauci say on Face the Nation today that he hopes to one day eradicate Corvid-19; surprised, because this virus is not a one time thing. There will always be opportunistic viruses just waiting for the next population explosion.
My belief is that we will never see the end of coronaviruses. Their evolution is nothing short of miraculous. I was under the impression that RNA viruses just needed reverse transcriptase and a few structural genes but, boy was I wrong. Covid-19 has dozens of genes each with a specific role to play in ensuring its success. It even has proteins whose roles are unknown. I venture to suggest that they may just be used to help the virus go dormant under certain environmental clues. This virus is so complex--my God, just by the way it coils its RNA with an interspersed protein is an astonishing accomplishment. Kudos, btw, to the molecular biologists and chemists who have deciphered many of the gene products. I could never devote my life to working on just this or that little piece of the puzzle; although, once a person starts something, it is often OCD that takes over and thank God for that. This is not in any way to take away from their work. I would be--to use an expression from the time of those now dying--pleased as punch--to have had the intelligence and determination to contribute to any of the pieces.
I feel compelled to say a bit about hydroxychloroquine. From what I've read, the drug works by preventing the release of the virus once it happily enters the intracellular space in a vesicle. The reason why Dr. Fauci wants definitive clinical data is that the question must be answered, what happens then? Can a vesicle remain intact intracellularly for the life of the cell? Once that vesicle breaks--if it ever breaks--it's back to square one. Now, if the cell can utilize it's oxidants to "digest" the vesicle contents, then we're back on easy street.
