When Will It End?

[This month’s issue of Harper’s Index reported that the wealth of U.S. Billionaires increased 70% since the start of the Pandemic. To which I ask:]


When will it end?


When Bernie grows a pair

And Betty dons a headdress

Finally seeing our despair

As we wallow in distress?


Will they lead us to Washington

Where billions are spun

For the Billionaire’s fun

While to us, none.


When will it end?


When socialism we recommend

Or when prophets portend

A second coming to suspend

The greed that is their friend?


When will it end?


When mansions rise on the moon

Or is that too soon

For the senator goon

who finds it too inopportune?


When will it end?


When our clothes we rend

Or when to hell they all descend?

Do we wait for a godsend

Or just await the bitter end?


WILL it ever end?

Constraints Loom Large in Mr. Krugman's Anti-Libertarian Agenda

Sure, as long as you believe two things. First, you have to believe that it makes no difference at all whether Hillary Clinton or Donald Trump moves into the White House — because one of them will. Second, you have to believe that America will be better off in the long run if we eliminate environmental regulation, abolish the income tax, do away with public schools, and dismantle Social Security and Medicare — which is what the  Libertarian platform  calls for. These scare tactics do not scare me more than continued wars with Mrs. Clinton; but elimination of the income tax shouldn't be in this list as Mr. Johnson has stated he wants a consumption tax with vouchers given to the poor to offset the inordinate hit that a consumption tax would have on them. The list comes from this website The covid-19 virus is probably neutral or negative because it needs to land on human flesh and, if it were positive, it would be repelled by the positive charge more likely to be found on skin or hair. Early on, it came out that women were less likely than men to get infected; what if it were due to their longer hair acting like a magnet? If it is found that men who wear a mask over a beard are no more likely to get infected as beardless men, this may mean the beard is actually protective against covid-19.
