The coronavirus immunologically is essentially all about the spike protein. However that antigenic site sits atop a "stem" which is longer than that of the original coronavirus. This stem is probably where all the variants arise. Let me explain. As we've said, the spike protein is the site that's recognized by the immune system and variations of it are unlikely to produce successful variants because the spike protein is already very adept at latching onto our Ace-2 receptors--any changes would probably degrade this ability rather than enhance it. #1 Keep your mask clean and be careful to keep the outside of the mask outside if your mask is reversible. On today's The View, Whoopi was quick to condemn a Texan congressman who said he could have gotten his infection from wearing a mask. Even if  you don't wear the mask inside-out, you can still breathe in virus by handling the mask incorrectly. I know of no substance that will bind with those spikes on the virus and never let go. I believe she's on to something because recently it occurred to me that nightmares may be a means of communication between the body, the subconscious, and the conscious mind. You can have a great memory or you can have great analytical skills or you can have both. The average doctor and lawyer gets by with just the first (memory). I have only a modicum of OCD but I'll always hate to clip coupons...SO...I don't bother. The problem with evolutionary theory is that no common man is willing to see him/herself as an animal subject to evolutionary forces. It's a simple concept but, after learning the basics, we fail miserably at applying the concept to everyday life. That is so unfortunate. Let me break it down for you. I'd issue my officers a gold square pin to wear but only after having obtained 5 years without a complaint. You get another one 5 years later..., and so on. If you were to get a complaint, that year does not count towards your total. An inability to get a square every 10 years is means for dismissal. Cops who just started can be given a smaller square for each year they remain complaint-free and five are replaced with a regular size square. The public is only allowed two complaints per person per year; and teenagers are permitted to file w/o parental consent. The square makes us focus on proper policing practices.
